Are you tired of existing maps? Do you want to discover new worlds nobody ever played?

Preliminary link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11244516/mapgen.htm

Then Maqs built the right tool for you: the 'Return to the Roots Map Generator'.
You are able to use all three GFX-Sets (Green-, Waste- and Winterland). Sizes are ranging from 16 to infinity,
although you should not create maps larger than 1024x1024 (I recommend 512x512), as either your browser
or RttR won't be able to handle them.

Landmass, water and  mountains can be set, but you should keep in mind that water and mountains together can't
be more than 80%, since there needs to be at least some space to settle.
Seafaring is also possible, as you will find several harbor spots you can use for your expeditions.

The best part is the seed function, using the same settings and seed will create the same map, if you want to
share your map, you don't need to save the mapfile, send it to your friends, open the game/editor  to check
the map, you can just share the link!

I can confirm that, both links work for me too.

Really amazing work! Now everybody has an unlimited supply of maps which are ready to play the moment you download them.
Too bad it isn't implemented in the game, but it will do fine nonetheless.

Maybe we can create a thread where people can share good mapseeds.

Very nice work! At my notebook the link works fine.

Hi. Where should I put the random maps ?

Currently I put them to the RTTR-MAPS-SEA

Anyway in game we have:
-old maps
-new maps
-own maps
etc.

but the "own maps" doesn't contain any maps, so where is this dir ?

RttR Map Generator is really great.

You should have a folder called "WORLDS" - if you don't have this folder, just create it and add maps to this
directory.
Code:
\Die Siedler II\Worlds

I know I'm bringing an dead thread back to life, but my question is related to this!

Are you guys still working on your RTTR-map generator or is it finished as it is now? Cause I could see some little improvements that
would make it even better!

For example, all maps created with this one have no borders, unlike the original S2 maps. Would it be possible to include an option to
have borders on a map??

Also I would like to create more randomizable (is this a real word??) maps, where all parameters would be randomly chosen, like size,
players, landmass and also water, mountains, forest and granite. Could this be done??
Especially the size and player number should be random every time, so that every map is different in size, without me having to type in
new parameters.

Or could you maybe at least make it possible to choose the size of the map without always typing in the numbers by hand?? Would
actually great to have this option for every parameter, just click on it, choose your number and be done!

Hi RM1985,

the ingame map generator is currently changing but the PR isn't yet accepted.

Regarding endless maps, currently every map in RttR is endless, it's not caused by the generator.

You can also try out this generator: https://settlers2.net/map-generator/

Thx for the answers!

Regarding the map generator from Settlers2.net: I've already tried it, BUT I can't save any map I create, dunno why!! Maybe I'm just
too stupid to use it or something -_-
