I still don't understand why RttR images are 24-bit. It would be a lot easier for everybody if the images had the palette in them, ie. true 8-bit images and not fake ones that need particular colors to work. That issue should be fixed.

That is what I have, but you always seem to have a different palette than I do, even though my palette is extracted from the original game.

If RttR used 8-bit paletted images there wouldn't be this problem.

I just noticed that for some reason Paint Shop Pro 7 had a setting for "optimized palette" in my saved PNG images so that has changed colors in my saved images. Now when I load a palette (closest colors) to a previously saved image there are noticeable differences. I've now turned palette optimization off, I hope I don't get unexpected color differences in the future.
