I found this gem last week, just amazed there are some people still interested in S2 :)
I am born 1985 and played S2 ever since they came out as a new game :D
Playing ever since with like 3 years gaps.
Still playable lovely game.

Shame this forum is not more in English.
Would be easier to go around here.

Anyway I installed RTTR yesterday after work gonna try it today.

Well, the forum was, when the project started, only in german but changing to english never really worked
because mostly german players write something in the forum.

I think there would be a lot of work the page could need - fixing bugs and improving everyting for non german
people but: you would have to ask flosoft I think who seems never to be here... So I don't really have an
Idea how you could help...

now is 01:48 AM, some free time to play on PC

FIRST IMPRESSION

biggest surprise = AI speed + brutality

I played map RANDOM 4:

1st game

* yes, barracks here, there, hmm, mine ...
* shit, why is half of my stuff burning ?

2nd game

* ok, AI is quick
* lets attack him first, guard house, me: 3 soldier, AI : 20 ... what the hell ?
* "Shower of soldiers" :)

3rd game

* 46 out of 50 my soldiers died in first 5 mins
* I build 3 fortresses + guardhouse ... onslaught ... "Forest of Skeletons" :D

OPINION ?
Settlers 2 ain't peaceful anymore :D

Forum is in German, kinda difficult to navigate or learn anything.
So I will post few questions here.

1.] what language is this game written in C, C++, "WHATEVER" ? = I could bring new DEVELOPER guy
2.] SAVED games are stored where ? = need to delete some

3.] CHARBURNER = it takes a lot of space

how much space it needs, all around 360° ?
and what is it, I was unable to google CHARBURNER
how it makes coal by using 1x grain + 1x wood ?

4.] ADDONS ===
a] charburner + farms = after placed they could highlight surrounding area, GREEN / RED, red for
the land which they could use but is blocked in order to work properly on 100%
this could be shown only after hitting SPACEBAR to be visible, not all time

b] FLAG AUTOMATION ! guys, my hand hurts :D

I would love to see optional addond / feature for automatic "FILL IN ALL FLAGS" in between 2
points

shit guys I love what you do and how you improved the game !!!

I would even dedicate my time to learn programming if I could help !

Okay, to explain it: it's simply burning wood to get charocal (coal made by "burning" wood) instead of normal
coal. You may played minecraft, you can burn some wood to get coal :p The same way is used here, but you burn
straw and wood for coal (I think 6+6:1).
He needs to places for piles like on your screenshot - he should normally build one, set it on fire, start
building an other one, as soon as the first one is finished he should get coal of it and go on building his
new pile after he has the coal.

Well, looking back to my childhood, well I play like retard and as adult like a noob.
Still, your AI in RTTR makes me learn, adapt, play faster, better.

First time I managed to get generals, before AI attack + actually survive.

But I still cannot get use to it. PC attacking, in large numbers and with generals.
Like it, feels like almost figting a real person.

I won my 1st game in Unlimited play in RTTR, yeah !
Took me LOST : WIN = 7 : 1 ... to learn how to play it :D

And yes CHARBURNER really needs a lot of space, more than farm it seems !

If you play with humans you will maybe see really big fights - my largest was around 50vs50 generals, well that looked
awesome :) Also if you are playing against AI you may also join the lobby and you could play with us since in the last days
RttR games are increased ;)

* in HQ or Storehouse, I know what "STOP STORAGE" does.
* what is icon "COLLECT" doing, how exactly to use it ?

Why I like RTTR among many other things:

* FOG OF WAR = know the territory, enemy movement hidden = GREAT !

* Lookout tower, in combination wuth FOW !
* I have to manage lookout towers now like a real military asset.
* I ran out of scouts the first time had to make more !
* And yes not having a lookout tower otherwise I cannot use catapult.

* Exhaustible water.
* Quite makes you manage economy more.
* I like this option because you have to be careful.
* My economy stcuk once for having NO WATER :D
* Good experience not used to this.

* Charburner :)
* I still did not quite know how usefel this is but hey, new building :D

* Proportional catapults.
* Great idea that limits you in the beginning weak phase of the game.
* This way you do not to have the upper hand in army strength.
* In later stages of the game it evens but still great addon.

I played about 10 games now.
Maybe I missed that but are ADDONS SETTINGS saved in general file somewhere ?
Or do I have to set it manually each time for each map I play ?
That is what I am doing now and it kinda is not much fun.

EDIT: I wrote Autohotkey script that is "clicking" it for me, I just hit one command and all
sets automatically for me, but still, would be nice to remember the choices for next play.

I think I found an error or is it by design ?

* Addon Settings > Economy > Custom build sequence
* Addon Settings > Gameplay > Custom build sequence

You have same setting in 2 places = does not make sence.
In my opinion should be removed somewhere.

Spike: I did, until I noticed the tab ALL, where was the addon with TOOLS.
Maybe all addons could be on 1 page, there is not so many of them.

They might be divided for example by HEADINGS, instead of grouped in tabs, like:

This way it would be easy to read.

If you can find any bugs (not missplaced flags/smoke/stopbuttons) report them ;) (Doors,missplaced buildings
etc.)

Also maps:

Sea for one player is hard,try Migratio or a Landung map.
small map you should take the green island
big map is "durch die wüste" through the desert or something like that.

All forest, playing it 2 days after work, not even in 1/2 of the map :)
