First of all, thank you very much for keeping one of the best games ever made alive and even further improving it.
I really like your work and also the latest update with the wine economy is just perfect for the late game.

There is just one thing which I really hope can be solved - the AI.
Up until version 0.8.1 the AI seems to behave somewhat like the usual settlers 2 AI. Not perfect, but ok.
Then someone seemingly tried to improve two major weaknesses of the AI, namely that it doesn't build a sufficient wood economy and that it doesn't use gold coins smart by rotating soldiers.
However, apparently the improvement attempts backfired, because the AI builds now a lot of foresters, in fact so much that often there is no space for farms anymore. But what is worse is that the gold coin usage completely breaks down after some time. The AI starts of correctly by building a castle next to the HQ and rotating soldiers, but after some time it stops rotating and it sets the castle to don’t accept coins. The same is also true for all other military buildings (to most of which it cuts the roads anyways). In the end the AI ends up with a lot of recruits despite stocking a lot of gold coins in the warehouses.
Additionally, also something with the mining has gone wrong. After 0.8.1 the AI often doesn’t really exploit the resources available in the mountains and sets up only a very limited number of mines.
So after reading in the forum, I understand that you currently don’t have anyone available who is an AI expert to fix the issues. I myself unfortunately also can’t help with that, otherwise I would do it.
But could it be an option to just take the latest Nightly and compile it with the AI data from 0.8.1?
If there is any chance, I really would appreciate it.

Oh that's interesting. I have heard about earlier versions of the AI but I never knew there was a version that was better with
foresters and mines..

I've had a lot of fun learning pixel art and the art style to work on new buildings. I'm glad you enjoy the wine economy I tried
my best to make it fit aesthetically and also in the style of Settlers 2.

I've actually finished graphics for another addon (Leather economy for early/mid game) just waiting for someone to implement it
as I don't have the programming knowledge/skills required.

So I haven’t had time to extensively test the AI behavior depending on specific circumstances – this is straightforward my experience
from the games I played (and I believe also what is reflected in the corresponding forum posts). Maybe someone knows some settings or
something that improves the behavior of the current version. Any ideas in this regard are highly welcome.
Otherwise, as said, I really would appreciate it, if an up to date version could be compiled with the 0.8.1 version of the AI code.

Oh the charburners were made way before my time haha. I did the wine buildings and the (yet to be added) leather buildings.

I am interested in a variation of the AI that is less prone to blocking farms with foresters tho!

Update:
I think i might have figured out the issue with the AI. One, should not switch the AI setting to hard - I havn't had any of the gold coin or mining issues in any game I tried when just leaving the AI setting on easy. AI seems to behave as intended then...

One question though concerning the wine economy - is there a way to enable the AI to also use it or is it human players exclusive?

I don't believe the AI has had the wine economy implemented and same goes for the leather economy (which is still a WIP). I
think they can be LUA scripted to build the new buildings but the general AI hasn't had them added like the charburner, which is
probably a good thing because the AI often builds useless charburners. I think having unscripted extra buildings will only
further hinder the AI which builds poorly optimized roads and farms/foresters as it is...

I downloaded the latest version, the 20250122, and I noticed annoying behavior, both with settlers and soldiers, if the way is lost when they walk on it, now they don't reach the nearest one, but keep walking until they die. Is there a way to solve this thing? I don't know if there are other strange behaviors, I removed this version and went back to the December one.
